Beloit may not be a place most people across the country have heard of, but every year, visitors from all over the country find their way here.

Families have traveled to Beloit from places as far away as the Oregon and Florida coastlines for the Perdue House. Their reasons for coming are rarely for leisure. Many are here because someone they love is receiving care at Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems, making Beloit an unexpected destination during an already difficult time.

For many of these visitors, the Perdue House is their first introduction to our community. What they find is often different from what they expected: a quiet, comfortable place to stay just steps from the hospital, along with the small-town hospitality that makes rural communities special.

The Perdue House has become an unexpected part of the Beloit experience for people who may have never otherwise had a reason to visit Mitchell County. While they may arrive because of a medical need, they leave having experienced a little piece of our community.

In many cases, it is a visitor’s first and only impression of Beloit. We’re proud that it offers a warm welcome to people coming from across the country, and even more proud that so many of them leave with a positive, comforting memory of our town.
