Hilltop Lodge in Beloit will be holding their annual Back-to-School Bash on Saturday, August 8 from 11 am to 2 pm. Free school supplies for the first 100 kids, water bouncy houses, free food, face paint and tattoos, train rides, and races with the Beloit Police Department officers!

On Saturday, August 8, the Hunter Fire Department will host a Hunter After Harvest Party, which includes food, DJ, beer garden, bouncy houses, and kids games on the tennis court on Main Street. A gun raffle winner will be announced at 7, following an auction of donated prizes.

The Solomon Valley Farmer’s Market will be held at the Lil’ Red Schoolhouse Roadside Park on Wednesdays from 4-6 pm from Memorial Weekend to Labor Day Weekend.

The Lil' Red Schoolhouse will be open during the Farmer's Market throughout the summer. Walk through to see a replica of a one-room schoolhouse from the early 1900's. A volunteer will be present to help answer questions. Tourism brochures and magazines are available for the taking.

The Beloit Senior Center will have free blood pressure checks on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays in August, 10:45-11:15 am.

Bingo will be held at the Beloit Senior Center on Thursday, August 13 from 2-4 pm. This is free, but space is limited. Call Debbie at 738-5802 or beloitseniorcenter@gmail.com. Donations accepted and refreshments will be served.

A Rangeland Management/Prescribed Fire Workshop will be held on Friday, August 14 from 8:30 am to 4 pm at 1399 Leann Ln in Asherville. Class is free but space is limited and those interested must sign up by calling the Mitchell County Conservation District at 785-738-5172 X3.

Last race at the Mitchell County Fairgrounds for the summer! Friday, August 14, 7 pm. Stock cars, sport modifieds, hobby stocks, crown vic's, 2-person cruiser, mini/compact. $50 tow money.  $15 admission, $30 pit passes, $50 car registration.

Cawker City's Twine-a-thon will be Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15. On Friday, enjoy live music, golf cart dice run, and food trucks on Friday 7-9 pm. On Saturday will be a fun run, vintage car poker run, food trucks, watermelon feed, kids games, and a parade starting at 6:30 pm.
