Mitchell County Geocache Trail

Mitchell County Tourism is excited to announce the launch of the Discover Mitchell County Geotrail, a new geocaching experience that invites visitors to explore the hidden gems of our beautiful county. This self-guided trail features 12 unique locations, each showcasing a distinct aspect of Mitchell County’s history, culture, and natural beauty.

The Discover Mitchell County Geotrail is designed for outdoor enthusiasts and curious explorers alike. Geocachers will embark on an adventure to discover these hidden treasures, getting stamps to complete their geotrail passport. To make it even more rewarding, participants who complete 10 out of the 12 caches will receive a prize from Mitchell County Tourism!

But what is geocaching? Geocaching is a real-world treasure hunting game where players use GPS-enabled devices to search for and find hidden containers called “geocaches” or “caches.” To get started, simply download the free geocaching app, create an account, and search for the Discover Mitchell County Geotrail. From there, follow the GPS coordinates to each location, and start exploring!

Tips for Geocachers:

  • Be sure to bring a GPS device or a smartphone with a geocaching app
  • Trade items or collect “souvenirs” from each cache
  • Respect private property and follow any posted rules or regulations
  • Take nothing but memories, leave nothing but footprints

The Discover Mitchell County Geotrail is perfect for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a unique experience in Mitchell County. So grab your GPS device, gather your friends and family, and start exploring the hidden treasures of our beautiful county!
