Mitchell County Receives Best of Kansas Holidays for Five Local Events!

Mitchell County Tourism is proud to celebrate five outstanding community events that earned top honors in the Kansas Press Association’s Best of Kansas Holidays 2025 contest, a statewide public-vote competition. The winning entries showcase the county’s vibrant holiday spirit and community-driven excellence.

  • Infinity Maze, LLC for Best Corn Maze. The Infinity Maze started in 2025 and was designed and built by Luke Shamburg. It is located one mile south of Beloit. It will open again in September.
  • Ghostly Party at Glen Elder State Park, organized by Kansas Wildlife & Parks, Waconda Cultural Association, and Mitchell County Historical Museum for Best Haunted Hayride. The yearly event takes place in October each year and is a free, family-friendly event.
  • Glen Elder Chili Cook-Off, organized by the Glen Elder Community, for Best Fall Food Fest. This event takes place in October of each year.
  • Chautauqua Isle of Lights for Best Holiday Light/Drive-Thru Experience. The light show is brought together with many volunteers and runs from the day before Thanksgiving through New Year’s Eve.
  • Beloit Holiday Fair, put on by the Beloit Cassiopeia Club, for Best Holiday Show. This event usually takes place on the first Saturday of October.

These achievements highlight Mitchell County’s commitment to creating memorable holiday celebrations that resonate with residents and visitors alike. Congratulations to all the winners for their creativity, dedication, and community spirit. Make sure you put these events on your must-see list this year and invite your friends!
